How to take admission to Kathmandu University in 2022-23?
Kathmandu University offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in various disciplines. Admission to the university is based on the results of the entrance examination conducted by the university.
The entrance examination for undergraduate programs is held in June, while the entrance examination for graduate programs is held in September.
Candidates who have completed their Higher Secondary Education or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the entrance examination. Candidates who have appeared for the final year examination of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent can also apply, provided they complete their examination before the commencement of the academic session.
The entrance examination for undergraduate programs consists of two papers: Paper I is common to all candidates and tests the candidate’s English language proficiency, while Paper II is specific to the chosen discipline and tests the candidate’s aptitude for the discipline. The entrance examination for graduate programs consists of a written test and an interview.

The interview is conducted to assess the candidate’s research potential. Candidates who qualify in the entrance examination are required to appear for a counselling session, where they will be allotted a study centre and program on the basis of their preferences and the availability of seats.
Candidates who are seeking admission to the doctoral program are required to submit a research proposal along with their application. The proposal will be evaluated by a committee of experts and the candidates will be shortlisted for the interview on the basis of their proposal.
The admission process is completed with the payment of the prescribed fees and the submission of the required documents. The academic session of the university commences from August.
